WHO WE ARE

The creators of Balkania® are ex-Yugoslavians who have lived in New York City for decades.

New York City, a place that never requires an introduction and where Balkan people have settled, raised families, operated successful businesses, and maintained profound traditions in a modern society. In New York, Balkans have blended with people from every corner of the globe, yet manage to stand out from the rest.

Balkania® is a unifying brand. Yeah, its alllll about Balkan pride, though its truest purpose is to represent the unity of Balkan people and everyone that is with us. This is more than a brand.  This is a MOVEMENT meant to represent US and EVERYONE that stands with us. 

The Balkan region is often marked by diaspora and division. Though some may still cling to old conflicts, many of us are committed to building a new legacy – one of togetherness, mutual respect, and appreciation for each others unique stories and shared connections. 

New York City, a pioneer in fashion where one thing is certain: New Yorkers love a good hoodie. Most New Yorkers have several hoodies, worn year-round. But this hoodie, the Balkania® hoodie, is like no other hoodie, guaranteed. 

We spent years hand testing various fabrics and materials before deciding on the deepest black fabric, best feel, comfort level, and a design to be worn with every style for years to come. The biggest challenge, getting a NYC manufacturer whose clients are powerhouse fashion brands to agree to take on our small but powerful project. The manufacturer eventually agreed, and though we faced even more challenges along the way, in the end, it was all worth it.  It was not just to share a beautifully crafted hoodie, but also to help create a brand with a mission: building a new history of togetherness.
